Is Peloton Worth The Hefty Price Tag?!
This post has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to share with you all why I love my Peloton. If you follow me on social media, it’s no secret that Peloton has been a huge part of my fitness journey. I bike nearly every single day and have recently hit 50 rides! Woohoo! Talk about a workout. The Peloton is no joke.
I started looking into the Peloton during the summer of 2020. It was at the peak of quarantine and I was sick of not having a routine. More specifically, a workout routine. I contemplated buying a stationary bike and using my IPad to take the classes. Ultimately though, I realized the Peloton is MORE than just a stationary bicycle. It tracks cadence, resistance, and stats digitally. It also allows you to connect with other people from around the world that share similar interests, struggles, and goals. This wasn’t something I’d have easy access to with a traditional bike.
After I decided that the Peloton is what I wanted, I ordered my bike in January of 2021. Now, don’t get me wrong, I knew that shipping would take a bit for an item this large. What I didn’t expect is a 3-month turnaround time. Peloton wasn’t producing bikes as fast as people were buying them which caused big problems with delivery dates. My bike wasn’t scheduled to be delivered until the END OF MARCH. Yeah. It felt like all my momentum for making a healthy lifestyle change was going down the drain and waiting felt like FOREVER.
Until I received an email that a sooner delivery time was available in my area! Because of this, I was able to get my bike a week before February ended.
I highly recommend calling and emailing the Peloton team weekly after getting your order confirmation. Although it took me some extra time, I was able to get my date moved. Which probably wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t communicate my frustrations and needs.
The package I ordered came with the bike, shoes, weights, and headphones. Keep in mind, you can order JUST the bike but those extra accessories are things you will need to ride efficiently.
I heard from other riders that the shoes Peloton provides you with are uncomfortable. Thankfully, I haven’t had any issues and feel great riding in them. If you’re nervous about fit and size, I recommend heading into a Peloton store or other athletic department store for help.
The seat is as terrible as people said it would be. I will say though that ‘out of the saddle rides’ and ‘20 minute rides’ are not nearly as tough as the ‘30 min’ and ‘45 min’ stretches. A seat cover is a must for this issue. Head to Amazon and snag a cover for $20. You won’t regret it.
Ahhhhh this threw me for a loop. All I can say about this is, practice makes perfect. I’ve heard so many different techniques for getting in and out of the saddle but the easiest way for me is to just apply pressure and twist the foot. It may help to watch some tutorials on this before taking your first ride!
Cody Rigsby: Bubbly, great for beginners and intermediate riders, pushes you in a fun way.
Alex Toussaint: You’ll end the class dripping in sweat, tends to be a difficult ride, great for riders that need more motivation, you may cry. LOL.
Kendall Toole: Playlists are always amazing, intermediate to difficult rides, I always feel exhausted after a class with her.
Jess King: BIG motivator, intermediate to difficult rides, seems to focus more on resistance than speed.
Overall, this purchase is one of the best I’ve made in a while. It’s really helped propel my health in the right direction. I feel healthier, look healthier, and best of all, know I’m stronger than I once was!
